        P29 HP ProLiant DL380 G3 system ROM (12/02/2003)
        =========================================================

           Address issue when running FreeBSD versions 4.8 and older
	   (FreeBSD is not an officially supported OS) with multiple
	   processors. The systems can hang when booting the kernel
	   that has been compiled with the necessary SMP options for
	   multi-processor operation. The system hangs after displaying:

		APIC_IO: testing 8254 interrupt delivery.

	   FreeBSD version 4.9 contained a change to the SMP code
	   which addresses this issue.

	   If running FreeBSD version 4.8 or older in the aforementioned
	   environment, this Single-User ROM should be applied.




HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.
The file that is downloaded is SP26010.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP26010.EXE [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to
create diskette.

4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file
SP26010.EXE if you wish.
