IMPORTANT: The firmware and software revisions must match in order for the system to continue to function correctly. When this SoftPaq is run on a supported notebook, it will auto-detect the current versions of firmware and software and update the firmware and software appropriately. If the firmware and software revisions do not match, the system may not go into Suspend and may experience random system lock-ups. PREREQUISITES: Bluetooth by hp HOW TO USE: ***URGENT IMPORTANT NOTICE - PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING *** Customers deploying custom images, please read below: The Bluetooth module that shipped in the hp Compaq Business Notebook nc4000 contain an earlier version of firmware which will result in some compatibility issues if used in conjunction with software updates. The firmware and software revisions must match in order for the system to continue to function correctly. Your notebook shipped with firmware revision 802/1.0 and software revision 1.4.1.3 SP2. The combination of firmware/software must be coupled in order to maintain stable functionality. If you update the version of your Bluetooth software you must also update your firmware. Bluetooth enabled versions of the hp compaq nc4000 which contain the old 802/1.0 firmware will continue to ship until mid to late January 2004. If Softpaq SP25720 is used to update the software in a custom image to version 1.4.2.19 SP4, then each Bluetooth-enabled nc4000 that the custom image is deployed on is required to have its Bluetooth firmware updated to version 802/1.1. Softpaq SP25720 contains both firmware and software updates. When run on a system, it will auto-detect the current versions and update the firmware and software appropriately. Identifying the Bluetooth Firmware Revision: To verify the firmware version on your hp compaq nc4000, you must first install and configure the Bluetooth software per the instructions in the “Getting Started Guide” located on the Bluetooth Documentation CD that came with your system and then perform the following steps: 1. Right click the BTTray Icon located in the System Tray. 2. Select Advanced Configuration > Hardware and view the firmware revision under Device Properties. 3. Select OK to close the window. Identifying the Bluetooth Software Revision: To verify the software version on your hp compaq nc4000, you must first install and configure the Bluetooth software per the instructions in the “Getting Started Guide” located on the Bluetooth Documentation CD that came with your system and then perform the following steps: 1. Right click the BTTray Icon located in the System Tray. 2. Select Explore My Bluetooth Places. 3. Select Help > About My Bluetooth Places and view the software version and Service Pack number.
