DESCRIPTION:
This contains a solution for the notebook models listed below that are running Windows XP 
with Service Pack 1. The issue this fix addresses is where the energy-saving settings are 
configured to turn the LCD monitor off after one minute. If the notebook enters a state 
where the monitor does not turn on again, even when a key on the keyboard is pressed, 
apply this solution.

HOW TO USE:

NOTE: This fix involves an update to the registry. The update is applied automatically,
      so that it is not necessary for the customer to manually edit the registry.
 
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded
is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

The following registry update command will be issued and completed automatically:
  REGEDIT.EXE -S KB823348.REG 

3. After completing the update, you must restart your computer in order for the 
changes to take effect.
