TITLE: HP Compaq Business Desktop d330 and d530 System BIOS (786B2 BIOS) VERSION: 2.04 Rev A DESCRIPTION: For the d530 models, this SoftPaq, BIOS Version 2.04, is a web release only and will not replace BIOS Version 1.11 in the factory. For the d330 models, BIOS Version 2.04 is a new factory release that will be shipped on new d330 models, replacing the Version 1.11 BIOS in the factory. This Softpaq contains utilities that can be used to restore or update the system BIOS on HP Compaq Business Desktop d330 and d530 models (786B2 BIOS). Several methods for changing the BIOS version on your computer may be chosen. Included in this Softpaq are the following methods: ability to create a ROMpaq bootable BIOS upgrade\restore floppy, ability to upgrade the BIOS directly in the Windows environment using HPQFlash and the ability to create a ROMpaq bootable BIOS upgrade\restore CD. This Softpaq has the ability to be used with SSM, HPCMS, or PXE management software for remote updating of the BIOS. The BIOS Family and BIOS date can be determined by pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on to run the Setup Utility, and then selecting File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file on a diskette or on a USB flash media device by selecting File/Save to Diskette. In order for a USB flash media device to be recognized by the system, the device must be attached before the computer is turned on. Your processor stepping can be determined by accessing the System Information selection from the File menu of F10 BIOS Setup. Hides serial port 2 from legacy operating systems if serial port 2 option is not installed. Adds support for soft power-down in Windows NT 4.0. This change works in conjunction with the "Compaq Power Management Extensions for Windows NT 4.0" software that is located at www.hp.com. Adds F-10 Setup menu for "BIOS Wakeup" option. This option allows the user to set up a specific time and the days that the system will wake up from the soft off state (S5 sleep state). Adds additional text to better describe consequences if security device reset, for the TPM, is selected. Adds F10 Setup options for disabling/enabling each IDE (PATA) channel. Adds code to ensure the SATA 1 device DMA capabilities reported to the operating system reflect the currently selected data transfer mode when "SATA Configuration" is set to "Replace Primary IDE Controller" in F10 Setup. Adds a new F10 feature that allows the user the ability to adjust the minimum fan speed to higher values. The fan controller still works normally and will adjust the fans to higher speeds if required by temperature. Adds support for USB CD-ROM boot. The CD-ROM drive must support this functionality in order for this to work correctly. FIXES: Resolves issue with Hood Sensor not reporting an error if an Administrator password is set in F10 Setup. Resolves issue with some PCI - Cardbus bridge cards not loading the "Generic Cardbus Controller," which resulted in the driver for the controller having an error condition in Windows XP. Corrects an issue with USB 2.0 devices being visible in the OS when connected to the front USB ports even though the front USB ports have been disabled or hidden in F10 Setup. Corrects BIOS F10 Setup's Italian Storage Menu for Hard Drives, which was not displaying the complete text. Updates PXE ROM to version 6.3.0. This ROM fixed a PXE boot failure that occurred with some PXE servers where the "DHCP boot filename" option (OPTION 67) was manually added. Also the base code was fixed so that the provided length field file name strings are used to nullify the filename that is used for TFTP/MTFTP download. PREREQUISITES: N/A HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Copyright (c) 2003 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
