A LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: ROMPaqs DIVISIONS: Systems PRODUCTS AFFECTED: ProLiant BL20p G2 Server (I04) OPERATING SYSTEM AND VERSION: N/A SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A PREREQUISITE: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: July 08, 2003 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 2.X SUPERSEDES: SP24325 DESCRIPTION: This release provides updated system ROM images for the latest releases of ProLiant BL20p G2 Server products. Features Added - ProLiant BL20p G2 ROM I04 (06/19/2003) ============================================ Added support for the latest Intel Xeon Processor. Add message during POST if a system battery failure is detected. Previously, the system would simply go back to default settings in this condition. This should help customers and service more easily troubleshoot issues with systems losing their configuration settings due to failed system batteries. Added a ROM Based Setup Utility (RBSU) Advanced Option to disable processor performance settings. HP has determined that some applications may benefit by modifying the "CPU Performance Settings." Based on the type of application run on the server, this setting may impact system performance. Changed RBSU default settings to disable the Virtual Install Disk. Problems Fixed - ProLiant BL20p G2 ROM I04 (06/19/2003) ============================================ Fix a potential NMI "blue screen" that could occur when loading the System Management driver while the Operating System is booting. Fix a potential floppy disk corruption that could occur while saving files to a floppy diskette in a USB floppy drive or using iLO or RILOE II virtual media. This error would only occur if the system is booted using EMM386. Add warning message in RBSU when Linux is selected in the OS Selection menu which indicates (NOTE: This issue is only relevant to uniprocessor systems with the Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz processor with 1 Mbyte L3 cache performing an initial installation of Red Hat Linux 8.0): "The system has detected a single Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz processor with a 1 MB L3 cache. If you are installing Red Hat Linux 8.0 with this configuration, the installation may fail. This issue can be avoided in two ways. You can disable the MPS Table (via Advanced Options\MPS Table Mode option) prior to the install and re-enable upon completion. Alternatively, you can download an updated Red Hat 8.0 installation diskette image from the HP website. Please read the RTF card that came with your system and/or processor or check the HP website for more information. This issue only affects the installation process of Red Hat 8.0 and does not affect any other version of Linux." HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP24797.EXE. 3.
