VERSION: 4.04A LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: ROMPaqs DIVISIONS: Systems PRODUCTS AFFECTED: HP ProLiant DL380 G3 OPERATING SYSTEM: ALL SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A PREREQUISITE: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: July 7, 2003 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 2.X SUPERSEDES: SP24100 DESCRIPTION: This release provides updated system ROM images for the latest maintenance releases of HP DL380 G3 Servers. New Features - ProLiant DL380 G3 ROM P29 (06/19/2003) ============================================ Added support for the latest Intel Xeon Processor. Added message during POST if a system battery failure is detected. Previously, the system would simply go back to default settings in this condition. This should help customers and service more easily troubleshoot issues with systems losing their configuration settings due to failed system batteries. Added a ROM Based Setup Utility (RBSU) Advanced Option to modify processor performance settings. HP has determined that some applications may benefit by modifying the "CPU Performance Settings." Based on the type of application run on the server, this setting may impact system performance. The system is optimized for memory by default. Changed RBSU default settings to disable the Virtual Install Disk. Problems Fixed - ProLiant DL380 G3 ROM P29 (06/19/2003) ============================================ Fixed a potential problem that could result in the total loss of keyboard functionality after a system reset or "warm boot." Prior to this fix, the keyboard might have appeared to be unconnected after a warm reset. Keyboard functionality would only be returned after a power cycle the server. Fixed a potential problem that could result in a system lockup or "blue screen" when 6GB of system memory is installed and a Smart Array 5i, Smart Array 5312, or Smart Array 532 is also installed in the system. No longer report Fan 1 as missing during BIOS POST when only Primary fans are used and one or more of them are missing or failed. Added port numbering for embedded Network Cards under the PCI Devices option under ROM Based Setup Utility. Fixed a potential NMI "blue screen" that could occur when loading the System Management driver while the Operating System is booting. Added warning message in RBSU when Linux is selected in the OS Selection menu which indicates (NOTE: This issue is only relevant to uniprocessor systems with the Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz processor with 1 Mbyte L3 cache performing an initial installation of Red Hat Linux 8.0): "The system has detected a single Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz processor with a 1 MB L3 cache. If you are installing Red Hat Linux 8.0 with this configuration, the installation may fail. This issue can be avoided in two ways. You can disable the MPS Table (via Advanced Options\MPS Table Mode option) prior to the install and re-enable upon completion. Alternatively, you can download an updated Red Hat 8.0 installation diskette image from the HP website. Please read the RTF card that came with your system and/or processor or check the HP website for more information. This issue only affects the installation process of Red Hat 8.0 and does not affect any other version of Linux." HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette. 2.
