TITLE: HPQFlash Utility for Evo D310/D320/D510 and W4000 SFF DDR (686O2 ROM) VERSION: 3.18 DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq creates files that contain the HPQFlash utility and a binary image of the System ROM for the Evo models listed below with a 686O2 Family ROM. The HPQFlash utility is used to locally flash the System ROM on PCs through a Windows environment. For Evo D310, D320, and W4000 SFF DDR models, this release is being implemented in the factory and will be shipped on new computers. For D510 models, this update will not be implemented in the factory and is made available on the web only, as a maintenance release for Evo D510 customers that may be interested in the fixes or enhancements made available in this version. The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running the Setup Utility by pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on of the computer, and viewing File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file by selecting File/Save to Diskette. See important installation note below in HOW TO USE section. FIXES: - Fixes issue where IDE devices could be inadvertently set to slower transfer modes in Windows systems with certain drive configurations. - Fixes an extremely rare condition that could prevent the time and date from being set in F10 setup when certain languages are selected. HOW TO USE: IMPORTANT NOTE: If the target system is configured with a 3.06-GHz processor and a 3.xx ROM earlier than version 3.16, Hyper-Threading must be disabled before updating the BIOS using Windows-based flash tools, HPQFlash or SSM. Otherwise, BIOS data integrity problems can occur. By default, Hyper-Threading is disabled in F10 setup. To disable Hyper-Threading follow these steps: a) At the COMPAQ BIOS startup screen, press F10 when prompted. The prompt will appear in the lower right hand corner of the COMPAQ splash screen. b) Choose your preferred language. c) From the Advanced menu, select Device Options. d) In the Device Options sub-menu, set the Hyper-Threading option to Disable. 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. It is recommended to create a directory called \HPQFlash and copy the SoftPaq to that directory. 2. Refer to the HPQFlash utility documentation (HPQFlash.txt) for further instructions on using the HPQFlash utility to flash the System ROM on your PC.
