SOFTPACK NUMBER: SP21987 PART NUMBER: FILE NAME: SP21987.tgz TITLE: ProLiant BL p-Class GbE Interconnect Switch Firmware for Linux Deployment VERSION: 2.1.0 LANGUAGE: English (US) CATEGORY: Firmware - Blade Infrastructure DIVISIONS: Server PRODUCTS AFFECTED: ProLiant BL20p All Models ProLiant BL40p All Models OPERATING SYSTEM: Red Hat Linux 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8.0 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 UnitedLinux 1.0 SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A PREREQUISITES: EFFECTIVE DATE: 9/22/03 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPACK UTILITY VERSION: SUPERSEDES: SP23578 DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq contains the ProLiant BL p-Class GbE Interconnect Switch firmware image and Readme files. Enhancements/Fixes: This updated firmware corrects these and other issues: - Resetting to factory defaults and saving IP settings will change the switch set up from DHCP to manual IP setting. If you are using DHCP to establish your IP address, use the "Reboot & Load Factory Default Configuration" option instead of "Reboot & Load Factory Default Configuration Except IP Address." - If you enter a list of Security IP addresses, SNMP queries only work for the first 3 entries. Telnet and Web connections work properly for all entries. - Poor performance may be encountered if flow control is enabled on Gigabit uplinks. In some test cases, maximum throughput was reduced by 50% with flow Control enabled on the Gigabit uplinks. Flow control is disabled by default so this problem will not be encountered unless flow control is enabled through operator interaction. - When an XML file is downloaded via the Web interface, the switch reboots. If a switch reboot when downloading a new configuration file is not wanted, use the command line or menu interfaces. - When a switch is relocated from one position in a rack to another position, the SNMP trap switchLocationChange is expected upon switch reboot. The delivery of this trap is currently unreliable. HOW TO USE: Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your target computer. The SoftPaq is a .tgz file with a file name based on the SoftPaq Number. Run this command to extract the files from the .tgz file: tar -zxvf *.tgz Place the firmware image file (*.bin) on a TFTP server that is network-accessible from the switch you wish to update. Use the switch's command line interface (CLI) to update the firmware. Alternately, the switch's serial console may be used to update the firmware. See the switch's User Guide for detailed instructions. Refer to the Softpaq README file for installation instructions and firmware information.
