TITLE: ROM Image for Evo D500, D300, and W4000 (686Y2 ROM) Remote ROM Flash VERSION: 2.06 Rev A DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq creates files that contain a binary image for the System ROM for the Compaq models with a 686Y2 Family ROM. This SoftPaq is used to flash the System ROM on target PCs on a network, and it requires Compaq System Software Manager (SSM) or Remote Management Setup. The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running the Setup Utility by pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on of the computer, and viewing File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file by selecting File/Save to Diskette. If you use Compaq System Software Manager (SSM) to deploy SoftPaqs within your organization, you must upgrade to SSM version 1.50 (SP17447), which supports all new and existing SoftPaq formats. For information on SSM, check "http://www.compaq.com/im/change/ssmwp.html. Previous BIOS versions disabled the integrated audio automatically, without an option to enable it again, if a PCI audio card was detected in order to prevent resource conflicts between the PCI and integrated audio devices. - Enhances the F10 Setup “Save to Diskette” and “Restore from Diskette” features to prevent bad diskettes from causing a system lock-up. - Adds a type-11 record to the SMBIOS tables for use by service. - Adds support for certain Samsung USB keyboards. - Adds support for Compaq iPaq Home Phone Network Adapter (HPNA). - Adds support for Northwood Pentium 4 processors (specifically B0 stepping) - Adds support for core chipset MCH B0. - Adds support for new DDR platforms. FIXES: - Corrects the reporting of L1 and L2 cache type in the SMBIOS structure (information only). - Corrects the reporting of the L1 cache size in F10 Setup, from 8KB to 20KB to reflect the full L1 cache size in the Pentium 4 (information only). - Corrects the saving of the boot order information when saving settings from F10 setup to diskette when a USB boot device is set as “disabled” in the boot order. The previous BIOS version would save an invalid string in the settings file under this condition. - Makes a change to BIOS to correctly report the memory map of the EBDA in all cases. - Corrects the PCI resource settings when installing two SCSI devices of type Adaptec Dual Channel Ultra160 SCSI Card PCI Model AHA-39160 and Adaptec SCSI Card 29160 Ultra160 64-bit PCI. PREREQUISITES: Compaq System Software Manager (SSM) or Remote Management Setup HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Refer to the remote utility documentation for instructions on creating a Remote ROM Flash job to flash the System ROM on target PCs on the network.
