DESCRIPTION:
This SoftPaq creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to locally
restore or upgrade the System ROM in the below models.  A backup of the current
System ROM will be copied onto the ROMPaq diskette during the flash process.
The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running the Setup Utility by
pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on of the computer, and
viewing Main/System Information.

NOTE: This SoftPaq contains the same ROM versions that were in SoftPaq SP18761. It just
      repackages them using Package for the Web. Customers who have already obtained
      SoftPaq SP18761 do not need to download SP18768.

The following enhancements to the models listed above with a 786K1 Family ROM were in 
SoftPaq SP18761 and are also included in this SoftPaq:
    - Added Smart drive error messages.
    - Added support to show F12 Network boot message.
    - Made cursor not skip the 2nd century digit in F10 Set Time and Date screen.

HOW TO USE: 

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette and place it in your A: drive.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that
directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based
on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the
on-screen instructions to build the ROMPaq diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file
downloaded in step 2.  NOTE: ROMPaq disk can be recreated by running QRST5.EXE

5. Place the newly created diskette in the A: drive of the computer to be
upgraded or restored and cycle system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the correct Compaq System ROM 
and flash the firmware.

WARNING:  DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER DURING THE
UPGRADE PROCESS!!!
