TITLE: iPAQ H3100/H3600 Utility to Restore a 1.04 Backup File to a 1.07 Unit VERSION: 1.00 DESCRIPTION: This contains a utility that allows the user to perform a restore to an iPAQ H3100/H3600 Series 1.07 unit with a backup that was made with a 1.04 unit. Use this SoftPaq if you are unable to do a restore when you get your unit back from service. The error message this corrects is: "The restore could not be completed successfully because the selected backup was created from a different type of model." The current version of Activesync (3.1 and 3.5) detects changes in the motherboard and prevents the restore. This utility modifies your existing backup file to be compatible with a 1.07 unit. IMPORTANT: Before performing the restoration, make sure that the ROM version on your new unit is the same as the unit you made the backup file from. (Example: If the backup was made on a 1.04 unit with a 1.28 ROM, the modified backup file should only be restore to a 1.07 unit with a 1.28 ROM.) If the new unit has a more recent ROM version, download the appropriate version from www.compaq.com and downgrade your new unit first. After the restore is complete, You can upgrade the unit to the latest ROM version if necessary. This step is necessary because some files on the 1.28 backup will not be compatible with a later ROM. This utility will not modify 1.07 backup files to work on 1.04 units.
