(Examples: Altiris eXpress, LANDesk Configuration Manager (LCM)) EFFECTIVE DATE: July 23, 2001 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 5.0 SUPERSEDES: SP17283 DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq creates a set of utility files that can be used with a remote configuration tool such as Altiris eXpress to update or restore the System ROM in the Compaq Deskpro Workstation 300 and Deskpro EXS Series with a 686P5 Family ROM. It also includes the ROM Image. The standard ROMPaq will not work for updating a PC remotely over a network. The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running the Setup Utility by pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on of the computer, and viewing File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file by selecting File/Save to Diskette. ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES: - Changes memory interface timings to support newer memory modules to prevent possible intermittent memory failures on existing systems. - Corrects an issue in the El Torito (bootable CD) hard drive emulation support when the BIOS attempts to boot from a hard drive emulating CD that specifies more than 1 sector in its Section Entry data structure (e.g. an Intelligent Disaster Recovery CD). HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Entering "Y" confirms the unpacking of several files. 3. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. Refer to the files README.TXT and REPSET.TXT for further information about the utility programs.
