Enhancements/Fixes: FixesRA4100 that have missing chassis ID serial #'s, blank EEPROMS. Copyright 1998, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved. Product names mentioned herein may be trademarks and/or registered trademarks of their respective companies HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette. 4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2. 5. Installation instructions, Power down server. Insert bootable floppy utility into floppy drive. Make sure to power up the RA4100 unit before booting up the system attached to it via the fiber cable. This will display the chassis serial number already programmed into 4100 unit if there is one. At this point if the unit already has a chassis serial number you can quit the utility and test the next unit using the same methods. If the 4100 unit fails to display a chassis serial number then follow step 1 of the utility and program a chassis serial number into the 4100 unit. Right after the unit is programmed the chassis serial number should be displayed confirming the chassis serial number has been stored into nvram. You can now verify what you have typed. If after running step 1 of the utility the 4100 unit fails to display all 12 characters of the chassis serial number or there is an error when attempting to program the unit, the unit is considered to have issues that can only be resolved at the vendor and should be returned for an exchange. ** In the case of multiple HBA's installed in a single server where each HBA connects to the same RA4100 for redundancy, the serial number only needs to be inputted once. There is not a need to input a different serial number for the second HBA.
