A Compaq Server Diagnostics diskette contains programs that can perform tests of the hardware and display information about the server configuration. ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES: - Adds ID and testing support for Compaq AIT 35 LVD. - Improves the speed of the memory test in Automatic mode by removing redundant testing. Automatic mode's default loop-count for memory test is now one instead of four. Analysis indicated that with current memory technologies, errors will be found in the first pass if they exist, so four passes were no longer necessary. The current estimate for testing memory is now ~26.95 seconds per megabyte of memory. Versions prior to S10.33A took >56.25 seconds per megabyte, depending on system speed. S10.32A Prompted mode on a DL580 with 1.0GB: 16 hours S10.33A Prompted mode on a DL580 with 1.5GB: 11 hours, 35 minutes S10.33A Prompted mode on a DL580 with 6.656GB: Ram Long Test =~ 11 Hours (~10 seconds per megabyte) All other tests together took 42 Hours. (~37.8 seconds per megabyte) This averages out to ~47.7 seconds per megabyte. S10.33A Quick test mode on a ML570 PIII 700MHZ: 2GB - 38 minutes 1.5GB - 26 minutes 1GB - 19 minutes 512KB - 9 minutes These are estimates so that one can approximate how long testing will take. - 4 GB of memory can properly be tested. - Drive and array controller information stored in the PCI config space is no longer touched by Memory.tm. This fixed the problem seen while using the DL580 with a 3200 SCSI controller connected to a Storage Works Enclosure 4214. Symptoms include BMIC failures and 8 hour test times for a two minute test. - Defective DIMMs are correctly identified on the DL580. Previous versions of diagnostic incorrectly indentified bad DIMMs in slot 4. - An error is reported if a drive size of zero is returned by the drive. - Adds support for hard drive larger than 30 GB. - Fixes intermittent buffer corruption error. - Fixes erroneous text on main menu after disclaimer message was displayed. The text that appeared on the right side of the screen was "Auto" and "ID". HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Pressing "Space Bar" to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new directory folder in the download directory. The diskette image file, the image extraction tool, and the batch file to create the diskette are unpacked into this newly created directory. 3. After the Diagnostic diskette has been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step one, as well as the directory folder and files created in step two. 4. Go to the system that you want to run Server Diagnostics on and power down the system. 5. Place the newly created Diagnostics diskette in Drive A:, and power up the system. 6. The system should then boot to Compaq Server Diagnostics. Copyright 2000, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
