(Examples: Altiris eXpress, LANDesk Configuration Manager (LCM)) EFFECTIVE DATE: March 27, 2001 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 5.0 SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq creates a set of utility files that can be used with a remote configuration tool such as Altiris eXpress to update or restore the System ROM in the Compaq Deskpro EN, Deskpro EN (SFF), and Deskpro EN (SFF-v) Series with a 686P2/686P3 Family ROM. It also includes the ROM Image. The standard ROMPaq will not work for updating a PC remotely over a network. The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running the Setup Utility by pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on of the computer, and viewing File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file by selecting File/Save to Diskette. ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES: - Made a change to the configuration of audio devices so that if an add-in PCI audio card is detected, the BIOS will disable and hide the integrated audio device so that it does not conflict with the add-in card. - Adds support for the Deskpro EN Entry model (without integrated audio). - Updated the NIC PXE ROM to v3.0.05. - Corrected a condition where, on rare occasions, the system would not boot to a diskette in certain diskette drives. - Corrected a condition where entering and waking from Suspend-to-RAM (S3) rapidly could cause a system hang. - Corrected a condition where the user cannot access the F10 BIOS setup or boot from removable media on the next normal restart in certain environments with heavy network traffic. - Corrected a condition with two disk drive translation modes available in F10 setup: "none" and "LBA-assisted". - Corrected a condition where bad sectors/clusters were being falsely reported by Win9x Format (FAT32) on drives > 8.4 GB. - Corrected a condition where LS-120 drives were not seen when the legacy diskette controller had been disabled in F10-Setup. - Corrected a condition that was causing remote ROM flash to lockup. - Corrected a condition with the Mitsumi FX322M CD-ROM drive that was causing the Windows 2000 Bootable CD installation to hang the system. - Corrected a condition that would not allow formatting 1.44MB media in an LS-120 drive in Windows 95/98 and DOS. - Corrects a condition where switching between primary and secondary VGA may cause resource conflicts. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Entering "Y" confirms the unpacking of several files. 3. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. Refer to the files README.TXT and REPSET.TXT for further information about the utility programs.
