SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP14390 PART NUMBER: None FILE NAME: N/A TITLE: LanSafeIII VERSION: 4.15b LANGUAGE: Japanese CATEGORY: Software Solutions DIVISIONS: Systems PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq ProLiant, ProSignia Servers; OPERATING SYSTEM: Japanese RedHat Linux Server Edition 6.1 Turbo Linux Server 6.0 Japanese SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A PREREQUISITES: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: September 11, 2000 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: X SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: LanSafe III is Power Management, system shutdown application for uninterruptible power systems (UPS). This Softpaq does not need Windows machine. This revision resolves an issue seen in LanSafe III 4.15 for Linux. The character mode Console (ls3con) for LanSafe III v.4.15 for Linux may cause an application core dump. Executing ./ls3con has been observed to cause a segmentation fault / application core dump in Turbo Linux Server 1.2 (Japanese version) and Red Hat Linux 6.1 (Japanese version). WORKAROUND: Replacing ls3con in LanSafe III v.4.15 with ls3con from LanSafe III v.4.14 resolves the issue. The replacement can be done manually or the user can install LanSafe III v.4.15 revision B, which makes the substitution automatically. There is no difference in functionality after the substitution. The only visible difference will be that the LanSafe III Console will report the LanSafe III version number as 4.14 instead of 4.15. The Power Monitor will continue to report the LanSafe III version number as 4.15. 2. The user may not be able to enable the Maintenance Schedule Setup in LanSafe III v.4.15 for Linux. It has been observed in Turbo Linux Server 1.2 (Japanese version) and Red Hat Linux 6.1 (Japanese version) that the Maintenance Schedule Setup under the Setup menu in the LanSafe III Console cannot be enabled. No workaround is currently available. HOW TO USE: 1. Create a temporay directory for downloading this SoftPaq. Ex: # mkdir /tmp/LanSafe 2. Download the SoftPaq to the directory in step 1. 3.
