EFFECTIVE DATE: September 27, 2000 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION: YES SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 4x SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: The IDA driver included in the Compaq UnixWare 7 EFS HBA Update Version 7.36A may cause two problems with storage in UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters. The first problem results from using the IDA driver to control external storage in a Recovery Server Option (RSO) configuration. While trying to mount the root file system, the system can panic with the following message: "PANIC: no device found for ROOTSTAMP" There is no workaround for this issue when using Compaq UnixWare 7 EFS HBA Update Version 7.36A. The second problem results from using the IDA driver to control the internal boot disk. The root node can panic trying to access an invalid user address under either of the following conditions: - The Compaq Insight Manager Agents are loaded - The ida_menu utility is executed from the second node The workaround for this issue is to not load the Compaq Insight Manager Agents and to execute the ida_menu utility from the root node only. Neither of these errors occur in a non-clustered SCO UnixWare 7 environment. Enhancements/Fixes: Corrects the potential storage problems in the IA driver included in the Compaq UnixWare 7 EFS HBA Update Version 7.36A in UnixWare 7 NonStop Clusters HOW TO USE: 1.
