SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP14169 PART NUMBER: N/A FILE NAME: N/A TITLE: Compaq T1000 Thin Client Firmware Update VERSION: 3.41 (Build 369.2.4) Rev A LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: ROMPaqs DIVISIONS: Desktops PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq T1000 Thin Client Terminals (worldwide products) OPERATING SYSTEM: N/A SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A PREREQUISITES: FTP site, or T1000 Client Manager v1.0.2.1 EFFECTIVE DATE: June 28, 2000 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 4.X SUPERSEDES: SP13803 DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq places a set of files on a server for later installation of a firmware update for networked T1000 Thin Client Terminals. Once the files are placed on the server, the System Administrator will either place the files in an FTP site area, or use the T1000 Client Manager Tool to remotely "push" the firmware update to the selected T1000 Thin Client Terminals. NOTE: Client Manager v1.0.1.1 will not work with this Client v3.41 firmware. Either an FTP site, or T1000 Client Manager v1.0.2.1 is required. Enhancements/Fixes: ENHANCEMENT#1: RDP5 with Local Printing. Provides support for local (at the client) printing. Additional user interface changes have been made to accommodate the configure local printer setup aspects within the client. An enhanced Setup Wizard pages, and a new Printer Tab in the Terminal Properties feature(F2) have been added. ENHANCEMENT#2: Secure ICA with 128bit encryption. A corresponding Citrix component on the server is required for the encryption support to work. The Client now has an encryption setting of 128bit, which will handle Citrix Server settings of 128, 56, 40 and Basic Encryption. Government encryption restrictions limit the export distribution of SecureICA to certain countries. ENHANCEMENT#3: PCMCIA Token Ring; An updated device driver for the Racore Token Ring card Model M8134 (revision C or greater) has been added to the product to fix a few feature problems. ENHANCEMENT#4: PCMCIA Wireless; Enhanced performance support for Lucent's WaveLan Turbo 11Mb PC Card and ORINOCO PC Cards which are compliant with IEEE 802.11; now handles transmission speeds up to 11Mbps. ENHANCEMENT#5: PPP Scripting. An additional user interface setting has been added to the Dialup Configuration Wizard which allows the creation of PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) scripts. ENHANCEMENT#6: Audio Volume Control. The capability to adjust the audio volume has been added. A new icon in the Devices Tab of Terminal Properties (F2) was added to adjust the Master Volume control. An audible tone is heard as the volume control is adjusted. ENHANCEMENT#7: Key Repeat Test Box. A new edit box was added to the Input Tab of Terminal Properties(F2). This edit box allows for immediate testiing of the Repeat Key Setting. Reboot is no longer required for the Key Repeat Setting to take effect. MAINTENANCE UPDATES: a) SET UP WIZARD - DHCP: corrected the wrong message in Wizard if DHCP failed. b) SET UP WIZARD - MONITOR DDC: corrected in Wizard the user option of "Best Available Using DDC" is selected, terminal was coming up 640x480 at 60Hz. c) INTERNAL WBT: added capability of providing "ClientName" and "Terminal Name" in DHCP packets. Also reboot required if Citrix "ClientName" changed or "Terminal Name" changed. d) POWER CONTROL: added support for Soft Power button to prevent potential corruption of flash ROM during power down sequences (since software flushes the flash file system before power down). User will now see a "Power Down" Dialog Box prior to power being turned off. Hitting the power button during a flash ROM upgrade in process will be ignored. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your server's hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 3. The firmware may be either "pulled" to the T1000 via placing the files on an FTP site and the user invoking the upgrade from the T1000, or "pushed" to the T1000 by placing the files in a folder for access/use by the T1000 Client Manager. 4. After the installation of the files is completed, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in Step 1. Copyright 2000, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
