The Array Configuration Utility Version 2.40 B cannot be installed on the System Partition, and the diskettes for this version are not bootable. They are provided to update the ACU on Windows NT or Windows 2000. It is shipped as diskette(s) on all other products. Enhancements/Fixes: * Selective Storage Presentation is now supported for RA4000 Controllers: - The Connection Names screen allows the user to name host controller connections to the array controller. - The Logical Drive Host Access screen allows the user to assign access control levels for a logical drive. The user can grant access to all connections, deny access to all connections, or grant access to selected connections. The user can also rename connections on this screen. * Supports the Compaq Smart Array 5300 Controller. * Supports the new fault tolerance Advanced Data Guarding (RAID ADG) on Smart Array 5300 Controllers with the RAID ADG Enabler Module. * The behavior of the Create Logical Drive screen has changed: - RAID levels that are not possible are not displayed in the new RAID control. - The Stripe Size control is now grayed out if user-selectable stripe size is not supported for the controller. - Stripe Sizes that are not possible because of insufficient space are no longer displayed in the stripe size control. * The Modify Last Logical Drive screen no longer exists. Modifying any logical drive now brings up the Modify Logical Drive screen. * The controller Operating System setting has been removed from the ACU. The ACU now uses a common geometry setting for all OSs. * The "Create Logical Drive - Advanced Features" screen allows the user to Enable or Disable the maximum boot size geometry for a logical drive. * The ACU no longer reports an error when it finds drives with differing operating systems on the same controller. * Reworded the Background Parity Initialization message (15645) to make it clearer that this is a normal operation for logical drives that have a fault tolerance with parity. * The "Drive Type" field of Physical Drive More Information has been replaced with "Actual Width" and "Negotiated Width" fields. The Actual Width displays the capable width of the physical drive, while the Negotiated Width displays the current acting width of the physical drive. * "Normal" Transfer Speed of physical drives in Physical Drive More Information is now displayed as "Asynchronous". * ACU detects logical drives that are part of an SWVR pool. A warning message will be displayed if a logical drive belonging to a SWVR pool is deleted. Once the logical drive is deleted, data will be lost forever even if the logical drive is recreated. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain two (2) formatted 1.44-MB diskettes. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file, and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to insert the formatted diskettes in a drive to create the diskettes. 4. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2. HOW TO UPGRADE THE WINDOWS NT VERSION: If the Array Configuration Utility is installed online on a Windows NT server, follow the directions in the Windows NT Support Software Diskette's README.TXT file to perform the upgrade. Search for the latest version of the Windows NT Support Software Diskette as a downloadable Softpaq from Compaq. Copyright 1995-2000 Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
