Download the softpaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the softpaq number above. 2. From the download directory, execute the softpaq by clicking on the softpaq file, SP12962.exe. When executed with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory. To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete path of the new directory as a parameter: SP12962 3. Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download directory or the directory specified. The following files will be extracted: AUTORUN.INF CPCSETUP.EXE CPCSETUP.INF CPQARRAY.INF CPQARRAY.SYS CPQPSS.DLL CPQPSSEX.DEU CPQPSSEX.DLL CPQPSSEX.ESN CPQPSSEX.FRA CPQPSSEX.HLP CPQPSSEX.JPN MFC42U.DLL README.DOC READMEJ.DOC SETUP.EXE 4. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. BEFORE THE INSTALLATION 1. You need to know what version of the CPC/S100 (also known as the HA/S100) product is currently running on your servers. 2. If you are not sure which CPC/S100 version you are running, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel and click on the Add/Remove Programs icon. Then click on the Install/Uninstall tab. Scroll through the selections on this box to find the "Compaq CPC/S100 x.x" entry. This tells you the CPC/S100 version on your machine. 3. If the version is less than v1.10, (i.e. 1.00 or 1.01) go directly to the instructions for SOFTPAQ INSTALLATION A. 4. If your version is 1.10, or 1.10a (CD version), go directly to the instructions for SOFTPAQ INSTALLATION B, for removal and installation instructions. SOFTPAQ INSTALLATION A The following instructions only apply if the current version is less than v1.10 1. Move all cluster resources and groups containing CPC/S100 resources to the cluster server node being upgraded, using Microsoft Cluster Administrator. When started, the softpaq executable will prompt you to do this if it is not done already. It is recommended to move one group at a time, waiting until the group appears on-line before moving the next group. 2. Shut down other open applications running on the node before you start the upgrade. 3. From the directory in which the softpaq files were extracted, execute the Setup executable: Setup.exe [ENTER] 4. You will be prompted with two options: OPTION A) Update CPC/S100 to current version -OR- Option B) Uninstall CPC/S100. Choose OPTION A and follow the instructions on the screen. 5. Click FINISH to complete the CPC/S100 update. You may need to wait several moments for this process to complete. 6. Choose to reboot the node when prompted. Wait several moments after the reboot for any upgrade activities to complete. 7. If you want to ensure that the new CPC/S100 version is installed after the system reboots and the upgrade is complete, go to the c:\WINNT\cluster folder. Check that the date of the cpqpss.dll file is 05/22/00. 8. Repeat steps 1-7 of SOFTPAQ INSTALLATION A to upgrade the remaining node in the cluster. SOFTPAQ INSTALLATION B The following instructions only apply if you are currently running v1.10 or v1.10a (CD version). If your servers have CPC/S100 v1.10 currently installed, you will need to remove the existing HA/S100 product. 1. Using Microsoft Cluster Administrator, perform a manual Move Group of all resources located on the server being upgraded to the other node in the cluster. NOTE: If you start the upgrade without moving the groups manually, they will be moved automatically, but this is not recommended because of unpredictable results while uninstalling software. WARNING!: If you are now upgrading the second node in the cluster, ensure that you move the groups, one at a time, and that the group being moved is allowed to come up before the next group is moved. If too many groups are moved at one time, it could inadvertently result in both nodes hanging or locking up. 2. Close any open applications running on the node to be upgraded, including Microsoft Cluster Administrator. 3. Go to the Control Panel applet and select Add/Remove programs. In the window, highlight Microsoft Cluster Server and click the Add/Remove button. 4. You will be prompted with a message that the Microsoft Cluster Server will be removed. Click OK to continue the removal. 5. A MicroSoft Cluster Server setup message will also prompt you to remove the Compaq ProLiant Cluster Series S Model 100 software. Press YES to continue. This is a standard Microsoft Cluster Server message that does not apply to the CPC/S100 uninstall. NOTE: You must remove the Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) first. Attempting to remove the Compaq ProLiant Cluster HA/S100 software first will result in a message indicating that the removal of this product is not allowed due to the quorum disk being a part of a CPC/S100 resource. 6. Once the Microsoft Cluster Server has been removed, you will be prompted to reboot. Click CANCEL. 7. Select Compaq ProLiant Cluster Series S Model 100 in the Install/Uninstall box, and click on the Add/Remove button. 8. Once the S100 software has been removed you will be prompted to reboot. Click CANCEL. 9. Go to the node in the cluster that currently owns all groups and resources, and evict the node that is being upgraded. This can be accomplished by launching the Microsoft Cluster Administrator utility, right clicking on the node being upgraded (it's status will show DOWN) and select Evict Node. You will be prompted to confirm your choice. Select YES. 10. Return to the node being upgraded and manually reboot the server. 11. Log back into the node being upgraded after it reboots. From the directory in which the SoftPaq files are extracted, execute the setup file: Setup.exe [ENTER] 12. The setup program will examine your server to detect previous versions of the software or Microsoft Cluster Server. Since both have already been removed, you will be prompted for the file D:\MSCS\CLUSTER\I386\SETUP.EXE, where "D:" is the drive letter of your CD-ROM, from the NT Server 4.0, Enterprise Edition 2 of 2 CD. Insert the CD and click NEXT. 13. MSCS will be installed. When asked to select the operation to perform, choose "Join an existing cluster" and click NEXT. 14. Enter the name of the cluster that you are rejoining. Follow the prompts to complete the MSCS installation. After installation has finished, you will be prompted to reboot. Click on "Ok" to allow the node to reboot. NOTE: The cluster name can be viewed by either: 1) Browsing the list of available cluster names -or- 2) Looking at the Title Bar of the Cluster Administrator on the other node. 15. Once the node has come back up and you have logged in, the S100 installation process will continue. You must then select the Drive/Controller Assignments. This requires that you choose which controllers will control which drive sets. When you select a drive set, a drop-down list will appear with the controller selections. Use the assignments which are recomended next to the drive letters. WARNING!: After the Drive/Controller assignments are made, and the installation process is complete, you will be prompted to run a Move Group test. Select NO. Running the Move Group test at this point can cause unpredictable results including locking up and requiring a reboot. 16. If you want to ensure that the new HA/S100 version is installed after the upgrade is complete, go to the c:\WINNT\cluster folder. Check that the date of the cpqpss.dll file is 05/22/00. 17. If you will be running Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 4 or higher, you will need to reinstall it at this time, to return your system to the proper configuration after reinstalling the Microsoft Cluster Server. 18. Repeat steps 1 - 17 of the SOFTPAQ INSTALLATION B section above to upgrade the remaining node in the cluster. Copyright 2000, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
