It creates seven diskettes. The NSSD diskettes contain NetWare and intraNetWare drivers, NetWare Loadable Modules (NLMs), and support information to optimize the performance of NetWare and IntranetWare on Compaq servers. This software enhances the performance of Compaq options such as Compaq Drive Array controllers, Compaq 32-Bit SCSI-2 controllers, and Compaq CD-ROM drives. Enhancements/Fixes: This release of the Support Software for Novell Products (NSSD) primarily supports the following new products: - Compaq ProLiant 8000 - ProLiant 5500 6/550 - ProLiant 5500 6/550 - ProLiant CL1850 - Prosignia Server 720 6/600 - ProLiant 400 6/550 - ProLiant 400 6/600 - Compaq Smart Array 4250ES Controller - Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4100 - Netelligent 16/4 TR PCI IBM UTP/STP Controller - Netelligent / AMD PCNet 10 T UTP/BNC Controller - Netelligent 100 FDDI Controller The following Compaq drivers were updated: CPQNSSU.NLM v1.47a - NSSD 5.20 * Support added for NetWare for Small Business 5 CPQCHW.NLM v1.22 - NSSD 5.20 * Now supports the detection of NetWare for Small Business 5. CPQARRAY.HAM v2.02 - NSSD 5.20 * Adds Support for the Compaq Smart Array 4250ES Controller * Fixed timing bug where redundant controller could be shut down by the driver before being restarted in a PCI Hot Plug system. * Updated driver to return new messages for logical drive expansions. It now returns a console message indicating if the fault tolerance has been changed, a drive was added, or the stripe size was changed. * This release is intended as an IML support release. * Added support for determining location of failures (internal vs external storage). * Added support for IML logging for chassis events. Assuming an event is generated from the board (i.e. tracking the event is supported at a lower level), this includes: * Chassis Door open/Closed * Fan hot plug add/removal * Fan failure/degrade/ok * Temp exceeded/warning/ok * In certain cases (Degraded Fan, Temp warning) only a console logged error will be generated when there's not an equivalent IML message. NOTE: This support requires Smart Array or later, as it is done by commands that were not supported in previous controllers. NOTE: This includes IML logging support for board failures from 2.01. Boards are logged as internal storage. CPQFC.HAM v2.02 - NSSD 5.20 * Adds support for Novell Clustering with Compaq StorageWorks RA4000 configurations. * Driver now recognizes RA4000 redundancy state changes after the RA4000 has been power cycled while the driver is still loaded. * Failovers often resulted in device deactivations in cluster/multi- initiator configurations. Automatic failback also caused problems in same configurations. CPQFC.HAM v2.02 addresses these issues by: * Failover issue fixed so that server not doing the failover doesn't wind up with device deactivations. * Driver automatically detects when it's in a multi-initiator configuration and disables the automatic failback feature. * In cases where a loop failure has been corrected, but the driver has not detected the repair, if a second path failure occurs the driver will now accelerate the loop retest and bypass the normal loop probation period to determine whether it can use the original path for it's failover rather than deactivate device(s) because both paths to the device(s) were marked failed. NOTE: Firmware revision 2.36 or greater is required to support new features found in CPQFC.HAM version 2.02. CPQSCSI.HAM v1.37 - NSSD 5.20 * Fix for embedded C876 port 1 speed negotiation issue. * Fix for possible lockup problems during install when sharing IRQs with SCSI adapter and a Smart Array controller. CPQSHD.CDM v1.32 - NSSD 5.20 * Fix possible ABEND issue when trying to update the device object at the same time. * Fix to enable better error handling during device errors and/or command timeouts. CPQSBD.NLM v2.17 - NSSD 5.20 * Added support for third party Subsytem ID on the HPC. * IML and NCMCON reporting of Power Up Faults. (Power Fault while turning on a slot. * Added "-NOBUTTON" command line switch to disable the PCI Hot Plug buttons. * Fails requests to remove a video controller. * Displays a message when pushbutton power on fails. * Changed messages displayed when using pushbuttons. * Reports 64 bit slots correctly. * Displays messages when using pushbuttons. * Ignores button presses while finding drivers. * Displays message upon exiting. * Displays a message when it finds a hot plug controller. * Displays a message if it doesn't find a hot plug controller. * Added "-DETECT" command line switch as per installation requirements from Novell. * Added a command line switch "-ON" to disable the auto-powerdown of empty hot plug slots. N100.LAN v4.19 - NSSD 5.20 * Fixed an issue where wrong buffer size caused overruns in the receive buffer. * Modified code to display driver strings for NC3134 and NC3135. * Enabled downloading of microcode to support Receive Interrupt Coalescing SKFPNW.LAN v4.21 - NSSD 5.20 New features: * The behaviour of the adapter LEDs was changed. * New command line keyword "QUIET" was added. Problems fixed: * Fixes a bug which causes the driver to abend if it was running in promiscuous mode (e.g. with ManageWise LanAlyzer) and the Maximum Physical Receive Packet Size was set to less than 4496. * Fixes a bug which causes the driver to hang in environments with bad hardware. * Fixes a bug where directed beacons were sent to a wrong multicast address. * Fixes a bug which causes the driver to disconnect from the FDDI ring because of a Duplicate Mac Address Detection under wrong conditions. * Fixes a Bug with dual homing in multi adapters environments, where the adapters influenced each other. IBMTRPO.LAN v2.45 - NSSD 5.20 * Fixes ABEND issues with certain configurations PCNTNW.LAN v4.16 - NSSD 5.20 * This 32-bit ODI driver supports multiple switch configuration for PermaNet Server Link Fault Tolerance (LFT) feature. * Support for PCnet-FAST III device has been added to this driver. * The .LDI file has been updated to eliminate Chinese language references. The following Novell drivers were also updated: - Novell NWPA Loader Utility NWPALOAD.NLM v1.50 - Novell IDEATA Hardware Adapter Module IDEATA.HAM v1.30p The following changes were made to the file structure of NSSD: - IDEATA.HAM and IDEATA.DDI were added to the \IDE directory in order to facilitate installation of this update on NetWare 5 servers. HOW TO USE 1. Obtain seven (7) formatted 1.44 MB diskettes. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to insert the formatted diskettes in a drive to create the diskettes. 4. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2. 5. For installation instructions, refer to READ1ST.RDM and WHATSNEW.RDM on the created diskettes. Copyright 1999, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
