The standard ROMPaq will not work for updating a PC remotely over a network. This is the same System ROM version that was originally included on the newer 810e models. It is not an upgrade. It is made available here as a convenience for users who may need to restore it to their computer for any reason. This version is also fully backward compatible with previous units that use the Whitney 810 chipsets in the 686J1 ROM family. This ROM version is recommended for use with Windows 98. This ROM includes a ROM-based F10 Setup. A Language Module option allows the user to select the language used in F10 Setup: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish. Enhancements/Fixes: - Adds support for the newer 810e models. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Entering "Y" confirms the unpacking of several files. 3. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. Refer to the files ASSIGNPW.TXT and REPSET.TXT for instructions about the use of the utility programs. Copyright 1999, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
