Even though it displays as "Compaq DLT4000 Tape Drive", it supports the DLT2XXX, DLT4XXXX, and DLT7XXX tape devices and will only work under Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, on an Alpha platform. To support all of our DLT4XXX tape devices, it is necessary to use this tape driver, or the tape driver in SP10755. The driver in SP10755 displays as "Compaq DLT7000 Tape Drive", and supports the same tape devices. This driver, and the driver in SP10755 are functionally equivalent. Which driver to choose should depend only on the display preference (DLT4000 versus DLT7000). For driver installation details, refer to README.TXT in the created support files. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The downloaded file is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files. The destination of the files to be created and total file size is displayed. The current directory will be the destination directory. The following files will be created: CDLTN4A.INF CDLTN4A.SYS README.TXT 3. Read README.TXT for instructions on installation of the Compaq DLT4000 Tape Driver. 4. After the files have been created, you may delete the downloaded file from step 1 (sp10753.exe).
