It is intended to be used only with the linux-iscsi-boot source RPM to provide iSCSI boot functionality. It also includes a utility that can update the configuration data for the iSCSI option ROM. ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES: Enhanced the ibootcfg utility to properly update iLO2 EVs and to support the use of the iLO server name in place of the IP adress. Also added support for Header/Data Digest EVs in the ibootcfg utility. Added support for RHEL4 Update 5 and removed support for RHEL4 Update 2 in the driver diskette images used for installation. Table of Contents ================= Introduction Packaging Install Binary RPM on Linux Server Limitations Uninstalling the RPM Package Documentation Introduction ============ Packaging ========= HP provides the `linux-iscsi-install' binary RPM. This rpm contains scripts and install driver diskette images for iSCSI direct install support. Binary RPM - linux-iscsi-install-.rpm Install Binary RPM on Linux Server ==================================== Install `iscsi-linux-install' rpm. This package will install new scripts and driver diskette images. For RedHat: # rpm -ihv /linux-iscsi-install-.rpm For SLES9: # rpm -ihv /linux-iscsi-install-.rpm These are the list of some of the files contained in the RPM: /opt/hp/iboot_install/scripts/configure.sh /opt/hp/iboot_install/scripts/install_bnx2.sh /opt/hp/iboot_install/scripts/install_iscsi.sh /opt/hp/iboot_install/scripts/prep_iscsi_boot.sh /opt/hp/iboot_install/scripts/setup_kernel_tree.sh /opt/hp/iboot_install/scripts/ks.cfg /opt/hp/iboot_install/scripts/autoinst.xml /opt/hp/iboot_install/utils/optrom/ibootcfg Additionally, there are driver diskette images for each supported OS version in the /opt/hp/iboot_install/ddimages directory. For further instructions on using these files to facilitate iSCSI target direct install, plese refer to the Release.notes file provided with the linux-iscsi-boot source RPM. Limitations =========== If the RBSU utility is used to reset system defaults, the iSCSI boot parameters will be lost. You will need to rerun the DOS EV utility or the Linux ibootcfg utility to reset the parameters. Many errors from the use of the ibootcfg utility are not reported correctly. As a precaution you should always use ibootcfg -P to verify the proper setting of the iSCSI boot parameters after using ibootcfg -i to set them. If the utility is not setting the iSCSI boot parameters, turn off power to the server and run the ibootcfg utility again. No problems have been seen when using ibootcfg to set parameters on a machine that is powered off. Uninstalling the RPM Package ============================= The following command will uninstall the RPM. # rpm -e linux-iscsi-install Documentation ============= Please look at /usr/share/doc/linux-iscsi*/README for iSCSI initiator design and installation notes.
