Enhancements: - Provides the Compaq Health and Wellness Driver which monitors operational data of the server and logs abnormal conditions. - Provides the Compaq IML Viewer Application which allows monitoring and manipulation of logged system events, critical errors, power-on messages, memory erros, and any catastrophic hardware or software errors that typically cause a system to fail. - Provides support for the Compaq Management Agents. HOW TO USE: 1. Login as the system administrator (root), download the RPM to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. 2. If a previous version of the Health Driver has been installed, it must be removed before the current version can be installed. Any packages dependent on the Health Driver must also be removed. To check which version of the Health Driver (if any) is on the system, type rpm -q cpqhealth The rpm -q command may also be used to check for the existence of dependent packages. There is no need to uninstall packages that are not present on the system. To remove the previous version and any packages dependent on it, type the following, in order rpm -e cmanic rpm -e cmastor rpm -e cmasvr rpm -e cmafdtn rpm -e cpqrid rpm -e cpqhealth 3. To install the driver and the IML Viewer application, type rpm -ivh cpqhealth-2.2.0-11.Redhat7_0.i386.rpm The driver will be inserted immediately. 4. To check whether the driver is loaded properly, type lsmod You should see an entry indicating that driver "cpqhealth" was inserted. 5. If you attempt to install the RPM on an unsupported system, you will get an error message. The driver will not be operational and it is advisable to uninstall the driver at your earliest convenience. Running the driver: 1) Once installed, the driver will be automatically loaded every time the server boots. 2) Several /proc entries are available when the driver is running. 3) Additional information and help is available by typing man cpqhealth Uninstalling the driver: 1) Uninstall using RPM by typing rpm -e cpqhealth If the health driver is running, it will be shut down. Should you reboot the system, the health driver will NOT be loaded at boot time. The IML Viewer Application will also be uninstalled. 2) If you ever wish to unload the driver, simply type rmmod cpqhealth The running driver will be removed from memory. Should an error condition occur, the driver will log an entry to the system log and to the health log as well as to the (text) console. In case of emergency, the health driver will attempt to shut down the system gracefully. Running the IML Viewer Application (requires X-Windows): 1) The IML Viewer is an application that runs in the X-Windows environment. Execute the following command to start the IML Viewer: cpqimlview The Compaq Integrated Management Log Viewer automatically displays the current entries of the Integrated Management Log. Additional information about features, installation, use, and troubleshooting the Compaq Health and Wellness Driver and the Compaq Integrated Management Log Viewer is available in the How-To document LinuxHealth.pdf, available at http://www.compaq.com/products/servers/linux/.
