Introduction The "Compaq Storage Agents - Linux" software release contains the Storage Agents program and related files for Linux. The Storage Agents take advantage of the systems management capabilities of Compaq server storage. This release supports Red Hat Linux 7.2 and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 (SLES-7). 2. Documentation Updates and Corrections This section contains information on known errors and omissions in other documentation. The information in this section is more up-to-date than that in other documentation. 3. Known Issues a. If your system is not certified for the Compaq Health Driver, the slot number information reported by the host controller will not be correct. b. If the cpqarray driver version is 1.0.9 or older, the slot number information reported by the Smart Array controllers will not be correct. c. The World Wide Name information reported by the 64-bit/66MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter is incorrect. d. If cpqfc driver version is 1.3.2 or older, the slot number information reported by the 64-bit/66MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter will not be correct. e. While viewing the Web agent, AutoRefresh feature does not function properly for NetScape browsers running under Linux. AutoRefresh does work for browsers running under Windows. 4. Supported Linux Installations Following Linux installations are supported by this release: a. Red Hat Linux 7.2 Server default installation plus "ucd-snmp" and "ucd-snmp-utils" RPMs from Compaq. Note: If default "High" or "Medium" firewall configuration was selected during the installation of Red Hat Linux 7.2. External SNMP requests will be "REJECTED" by the system and the server will become unmanageable. There are significant security implications to configuring firewall and the ipfw(4), ipchains(8), ipchains-save(8) and ipchains-restore(8) manpages should be regarded as mandatory reading before making any change to firewall configuration. The system should start "ACCEPT"ing SNMP requests (e.g. from CIM or other management consoles) with following command: #ipchains -I input -s 16.101.168.68/255.255.255.255 \ -d 16.101.169.69/255.255.255.255 161:161 \ -i eth0 -p udp -j ACCEPT Where 1. "16.101.168.68" is the IP Address of remote system running management console (or issuing SNMP requests) 2. "16.101.169.69" is the IP Address of the interface "eth0" of the server running Red Hat Linux 7.2. b. SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 (SLES-7) installations plus "ucdsnmp" RPM from Compaq. 5. Installing Storage Agents for Red Hat Linux 7.2 5.1. Before Installtion a. "Compaq Storage Agents - Linux" requires following binary RPM: Compaq Foundation Agent RPM Version 5.40.0 (cmafdtn-5.40.0.i386.rpm) - please check Compaq Foundation Agent dependencies at the foundation agent readme file. Available from: http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/index.html. b. The UCD snmpd Start script "/etc/init.d/snmpd" should be turned on under one or more runlevels of 2, 3, 4 and 5. /sbin/chkconfig tool can be used. E.g. "/sbin/chkconfig --level 3 snmpd on". If "snmpd" is not turned on at any runlevel, the Storage Agents RPM post installation script will automatically turn it on at default boot runlevel based on the /etc/inittab configuration (see "man inittab"). 5.2 Installing the Storage Agents from RPM Log in as "root", then use following command to install Storage Agents from RPM: rpm -Uvh cmastor-5.40.0-x.i386.rpm 5.3 Installing the Storage Agents from Compaq Management CD a.
