After the RPM file is extracted, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in step 1. 3. Refer to the installation instructions below for details on installation of the utility. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Download the Spy-co-.rpm file and copy it to a floppy. 1.1. Mount the floppy (mount /mnt/floppy) 1.2. Copy the Spy-co-.rpm to any directory (cp /mnt/floppy/Spy-co-.rpm /root) 1.3. Unmount the floppy (umount /mnt/floppy) 2. Only after the Linux OS is installed and the MegaIDE driver is operating properly, then the user can install the Integrated ATA RAID Management Utility NOTE: If the ATA RAID Management Utility is loaded prior to the installation of the MegaIDE driver (and creating of the partition) then the user may be left unable to access their drives. a) Close Integrated ATA RAID Management Utility or any other utility opening the device node, and complete the partioning. b) After making changes to the partition table, reboot the server for changes to take effect. 2.1. Change directory to the location in which the RPM (Spy-co-.rpm) was copied/extracted in step 2. 2.2. Install the files by running the RPM. At the command prompt run, rpm –i Spy-co-.rpm. This will install the following components: 2.2.1. /usr/sbin/Spy 2.2.2. /usr/sbin/CheckSpy 2.2.3. /usr/sbin/options 2.2.4. /etc/rc.d/init.d/spy 3. Installation is complete. Notes to the user: · Spy must be unloaded to use FDISK to partition new drives on the IDE controller.
