This RPM provides a customer friendly approach to install a pre-built binary driver. The distributions of SUSE LINUX supported by this binary rpm are: United Linux 1.0/SLES 8 The kernels of SUSE LINUX supported by this binary rpm are: 2.4.21-138 2.4.21-169 2.4.21-190 2.4.21-196 2.4.21-198 2.4.21-215 2.4.21-226 2.4.21-238 2.4.21-241 FIXES 1) None ENHANCEMENTS 1) Added new errata kernel support. Please read this section before proceeding. This RPM will install binary drivers that will only work with the default United Linux kernels, and the configurations that it has been built for. Earlier or later versions of United Linux are not supported. Special actions are required if you have modified the default kernel configuration that SUSE LINUX ships for their United Linux product. If you have modified the default kernel configuration you will need to rebuild the kernel with the updated sources located in /usr/src/packages/SOURCES. This driver RPM will not install if the loopback device is not configured but the initrd image is requested since the loopback device is required to create the initrd image. INSTALLATION Login as the system administrator (root), download the RPM to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. To install the driver type: # rpm -Uhv --replacefiles mptlinux--...rpm If an error occurs during installation, DO NOT reboot your system as the driver may not have been loaded properly and the system may be in an unusable state. You should remove the rpm immediately. Note: If you are installing another rpm which modifies the boot loader (i.e. HP cciss rpm) please install the mptlinux rpm first, and then install the other rpm. You may then boot the entry added by the other rpm rather than the original OS entry as would normally be required (see above). Setup is now complete. Please REBOOT you computer NOW!! To remove the rpm use the following command: # rpm -e mptlinux-- To load the module use the following commands: # insmod mptbase # insmod mptscsih if needed: # insmod mptlan # insmod mptctl NOTES Feedback -------- To provide kernel/driver development feedback send email to iss_storagedev@hp.com Customer Service ---------------- For support for ProLiant Smart Array controllers, please send email to contact.hp@hp.com.
