SUPPORT PAQ INSTALLATION The primary method for installing the Support Paq is to run the SETUP.EXE program included with the Support Paq. By default, all software is selected for installation. In most circumstances, this default selection should not be altered, and installation is as simple as pressing the "Install" button. Even when selected, only software that is appropriate for the system it is being run on will actually be installed. Press the "Install" button to proceed with the installation. After installation of the appropriate software the utility will display its results, including indication of software successfully installed, software not needed for the current system configuration and any installation failures. For more information on the usage of SETUP.EXE, refer to the help file (SETUP.HLP). A BP000067.CMD file is also provided with the Support Paq for use in installing the Support Paq from a command prompt without user interaction. As with the SETUP.EXE program, all software appropriate for the system it is being run on will be installed. The Compaq Support Paq for Microsoft Windows 2000 contains numerous files. All files must be present in the same directory as the SETUP.EXE program in order for the Support Paq to be installed properly. A console version of the setup application (SETUPC.EXE) is also provided as a way to script installations of the Support Paq or components. For more information on its usage, refer to the help file (SETUPC.HLP). 3. COMPONENT USAGE In addition to the SETUP.EXE program mentioned above, the Support Paq contains individual .EXE files corresponding to the various components that make up the Support Paq. If necessary, these components can be installed individually or their contents extracted to a floppy diskette for use during OS installation. To install an individual component just run the appropriate CPxxxxx.EXE file and chose the "Install" button. To extract the contents of a component to diskette run the appropriate CPxxxxx.EXE file, then chose the "Extract" button instead of the "Install" button. 3.1 COMPONENT CONFIGURATION Component files now offer optional support configuration before they are installed. The optional support configuration allows component-specific settings to be written into the .EXE file for availability during installation. Configuration is performed using the CPCONFIG.EXE program included with the Support Paq. When the program is executed, it displays a list of all components in the current directory that support configuration. To configure a component, click on the component name. NOTE: To configure a package, the configuration tool and Support Paq must be in a write accessible location. A CD or read-only network share is not supported. To know when a component was last configured, execute the component and view the date and time below the component name and version. The following table specifies the Compaq software contained within and installed by each component.
