INTRODUCTION This file contains information regarding use of the Compaq Support Paq for Microsoft Windows 2000. The following information is provided: Support Paq Installation Smart Component Usage Log File Usage 2. SUPPORT PAQ INSTALLATION The primary method for installing the Support Paq is to run the SETUP.EXE program included with the Support Paq. By default, all software is selected for installation. In most circumstances, this default selection should not be altered, and installation is as simple as pressing the "Install>" button. Even when selected, only software that is appropriate for the system it is being run on will actually be installed. Press the "Install>" button to proceed with the installation. After installation of the appropriate software the utility will display its results, including indication of software successfully installed, software not needed for the current system configuration and any installation failures. A BPxxxxxx.CMD file is also provided with the Support Paq for use in installing the Support Paq from a command prompt without user interaction. As with the SETUP.EXE program, all software appropriate for the system it is being run on will be installed. The Compaq Support Paq for Microsoft Windows 2000 contains numerous files. All files must be present in the same directory as the SETUP.EXE program or in order for the Support Paq to be installed properly. 3. SMART COMPONENT USAGE In addition to the SETUP.EXE program mentioned above, the Support Paq contains individual .EXE files corresponding to the various software packages (Smart Components) that make up the Support Paq. If necessary, these software packages can be installed individually or their contents extracted to a floppy diskette for use during OS installation. To install an individual Smart Component just run the appropriate CPxxxxx.EXE file (see table below for a mapping of file names to contents) and chose the "Install" button. To extract the contents of a component package to diskette run the appropriate CPxxxxx.EXE file, then chose the "Extract" button instead of the "Install" button. Smart Components support the following command-line switches: /help Displays a dialog box containing usage information. /silent or /s Runs the installation without user interaction. This overrides the default behavior of running the installation interactively. /force or /f Forces a downgrade. This overrides the default installation behavior of not allowing a downgrade to a previous version. This switch is only valid when used with the /silent switch. /reboot or /r Allows the Smart Component's installer to perform a reboot if it requires one. This overrides the default behavior of indicating to the user that a reboot is required and not actually performing the reboot. This switch is only valid when used with the /silent switch. /config: CfgFile Allows configuration information to be supplied to the Smart Component's installer for silent installation. If the Smart Component doesn't support this switch is ignored. This switch is only valid when used with the /silent switch. Note: Currently, the Smart Components for the Compaq Management Agents are the only components that support this switch. As when installed with the Compaq Setup Utility (SETUP.EXE), each Smart Component checks for supported hardware and software and is only installed if appropriate for the system configuration. Results of the installation are logged to a log file. Note: For initial deployment of server setup software (unconfigured system), Compaq Management Agents’ defaults can be modified by using a configuration file. The configuration file provides system specific information for the setup of Management Agents. Refer to the "Compaq Management Agents for Servers for Windows NT User Guide" (included as a .PDF file on the Management CD), for information regarding usage of its configuration file. The following table specifies the Compaq software contained within and installed by each Smart Component: CP000054.EXE Compaq Foundation Agents CP000020.EXE Compaq Server Agents CP000075.EXE Compaq Storage Agents CP000022.EXE Compaq NIC Agents CP000055.EXE Compaq Drive Array Driver CP000056.EXE Compaq Smart Array-2 Controllers Driver CP000057.EXE Compaq 32-Bit SCSI Controller Driver CP000058.EXE Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter Driver CP000059.EXE Compaq ProLiant Storage System Support CP000060.EXE Compaq Drive Array Notification CP000034.EXE Compaq NetFlex/Netelligent Adapter Driver CP000062.EXE Compaq Ethernet or Fast Ethernet NIC NT Driver CP000036.EXE Compaq Gigabit Ethernet NIC NT Driver CP000064.EXE Compaq System Management Driver CP000065.EXE Compaq PCI Hot Plug Controller Driver CP000039.EXE Compaq Integrated Management Display Utility CP000040.EXE Compaq Integrated Management Log Viewer CP000041.EXE Compaq Power Supply Viewer CP000042.EXE Compaq Power Down Manager CP000122.EXE Compaq Enhanced Integrated Management Display Service CP000044.EXE Compaq Remote Monitor Service CP000045.EXE Compaq Array Configuration Utility CP000121.EXE Compaq 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Controller Driver CP000047.EXE Compaq ATI RAGE IIC Video Controller Support 4.
