C O M P A Q (R) C O M P U T E R C O R P O R A T I O N Compaq Support Paq for Microsoft Windows 2000 1. INTRODUCTION This file contains information regarding use of the Compaq Support Paq for Microsoft Windows 2000. The following information is provided: Support Paq Installation Component Package Usage Log File Usage 2. SUPPORT PAQ INSTALLATION The primary method for installing the Support Paq is to run the SETUP.EXE program included with the Support Paq. By default, all software is selected for installation. In most circumstances, this default selection should not be altered, and installation is as simple as pressing the "Install>" button. Even when selected, only software that is appropriate for the system it is being run on will actually be installed. Press the "Install>" button to proceed with the installation. After installation of the appropriate software the utility will display its results, including indication of software successfully installed, software not needed for the current system configuration and any installation failures. A BPxxxxxx.CMD file is also provided with the Support Paq for use in installing the Support Paq from a command prompt without user interaction. As with the SETUP.EXE program, all software appropriate for the system it is being run on will be installed. The Compaq Support Paq for Microsoft Windows 2000 contains numerous files. All files must be present in the same directory as the SETUP.EXE program or in order for the Support Paq to be installed properly. 3. COMPONENT PACKAGE USAGE In addition to the SETUP.EXE program mentioned above, the Support Paq contains individual .EXE files corresponding to the various software packages that make up the Support Paq. If necessary, these software packages can be installed individually or their contents extracted to a floppy diskette for use during OS installation. To install an individual component package just run the appropriate CPxxxxx.EXE file and chose the "Install" button. To extract the contents of a component package to diskette run the appropriate CPxxxxx.EXE file, then chose the "Extract" button instead of the "Install" button. LOG FILE USAGE Progress and results of the installation of all software included in the Support Paq is logged to the file c:\cpqsystem\log\cpqsetup.log. This file can be viewed with any text editor.
