I am performing fresh install of Solaris on old hardware. Running
Solaris 10 update 10 + 09/20/12 Solaris 10 Recommended. Host is SunFire
4800 attached to CX300 and has 3 raids pointed at it.
I installed EMC Powerpath like always, but after a reboot I took note of
a message in the kernel logs. No manual changes were made.
Sep 26 14:42:13 sf4800 PowerPath: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] MPxIO is
enabled for clariion storage arrays, switching off PowerPath path
management for clariion.
This is telling me that MPxIO is enabled but `format` output should
probably only list one path right? Maybe it's not fully enabled? I am
not familiar with MPxIO, but I'm willing to give MPxIO a go if there's
no real reason to use Powerpath over it.
Note: All of our dev systems are using ZFS now so technically this will
only be useful on the SAN luns that are still using UFS.
This is reordered the output of `format` command, I put them into groups
because there is a second path of type unknown (which is also reported
offline in dmesg)
