I forgot to specify the netmask. Adding it again with a netmask worked fine.

Subject: [SunHELP] multiple ip addresses with link-based ipmp
I have inherited responsabilty for a Sun V245 with Solaris 10. This server
has link-based ipmp with a single ip address. There is now a requirement to
assign multiple ip addresses to this machine. There is an active (bge0) and
standby (bge1) nics on the server.
I tried running ifconfig bge0 addif xx.xx.xx.59 up which seemed to work, but
telnet access then took about 2 mins to connect and any browser based access
to the original ip address would just time out.
I have amended /etc/hosts to include the ip addresses that I want to use.
output of ifconig -a before adding the interface is
lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232
index 1
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
bge0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
inet xx.xx.xx.58 netmask ffffffc0 broadcast xx.xx.xx.63

bge1:

mtu 0 index 3
inet 0.0.0.0 netmask 0
groupname grp1
ether 0:14:4f:a2:3e:cf
output after ifconfig command is
lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232
index 1
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000

mtu 0 index 3
inet 0.0.0.0 netmask 0
groupname grp1
ether 0:14:4f:a2:3e:cf
/etc/hostname.bge0 looks like
# cat hostname.bge0
thishost/26 broadcast + group grp1 up
and hostname.bge1 looks like
# cat hostname.bge1
group grp1 standby up
Am I doing it the right way, or is there another method that I should use?
Thanks
Eddie
