Hello,

Following my pursuit of installing Sybase 12.5 in a Sun V240 running
Solaris 10, I stopped vold by issuing /etc/init.d/volmgt stop, and
restarted the Sybase install. It stopped further on while trying to
access the raw device:
basis_dsizecheck: attempt to open device '/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3' failed,
system error is: Read-only file system
Below is ls of the raw device:
# ls -l /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root          46 mar  4 11:13 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3
-> ../../devices/pci at 1e,600000/ide at d/sd at 0,0:d,raw
# ls -l ../../devices/pci at 1e,600000/ide at d/sd at 0,0:d,raw
crw-r-----   1 sybase   staff     32, 27 mar  4 13:15
../../devices/pci at 1e,600000/ide at d/sd at 0,0:d,raw

Why cannot Sybase access the raw device ?

Regards,

Marek Grinberg
