Hi,
      Try this :

At Install server : in this case sun blade.

      Shared dir looks okey.

So I'm assuming blade is not acting as nis server either.

      Sun-blade # cd to-solaris-image-tools-dir
                       # ./add* -e client-ethernet-address -I
client-ip-address -c sun-blade-ip-address:/jumpstart-dir-path -p
sun-blade-ip-address:/path-to-dir-where-sysidcfg-file-resides
name-of-the-client-system-to-be-installed platform-group-name

                     In our case

I have assumed you have created rules file under
/export/storage/Solaris9_install directory
It should contain atleast these files
                         rules , rules.ok and profile_file ( this
contains client to be instlled information )
                         and also sysidcfg file
                         so totally contains 4 files.

                    #./rm* wwserv ( to remove first )

                     # ./add* -e 8:0:20:c2:78:e -I 10.10.10.20 -c
10.10.10.7:/export/storage/Solaris9_install -p
10.10.10.7:/export/storage/Solaris9_install wwwserv sun4u

                    At client-side

                   Ok boot net - install

Let me update if possible

Regards
saran

Subject: [SunHELP] network install problems..

Hello all..

I am trying to use a Solaris 9 install/boot server that I have created
on my Blade 100 to install Solaris 9 via the network on my Netra t1 105
(new web server).

I have followed the Solaris instructions, and have had no problems with
that.. (other then the SunONE version of the Solaris disks not having
the
files to create a boot server, and me taking a year to figure out to try
the IPlanet disks that I wasnt planning on using)...

I have also followed Sun's trouble shooting guide @ the back of the
Solaris install manual.. @ the OK prompt I have 'setenv diag-switch?
true'
and 'setenv boot-file " "' ... the only thing that doesnt make sense is
that it says to 'ensure that the diag-switch is set to off and to
true'..
well i have set it to true, but am not quite sure what they mean by
off??

the following is diplayed on the netra @ boot:

Netra t1 (UltraSPARC-IIi 360MHz), No Keyboard
OpenBoot 3.10.24 ME, 128 MB memory installed, Serial #12744718.
Ethernet address 8:0:20:c2:78:e, Host ID: 80c2780e.

Boot device: net File and args:
Using External Transceiver - Link Up.
24000
Server IP address: 10.10.10.7
Client IP address: 10.10.10.20
Using External Transceiver - Link Up.
boot: cannot open kernel/unix
Enter filename [kernel/unix]:

the contents of the /tftpboot dir are:

bash-2.05# ls -la /tftpboot/
total 306
drwxrwxr-x 2 root other 512 Jul 2 01:14 .
drwxr-xr-x 48 root root 1536 Jun 27 02:16 ..
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     other         26 Jul  2 01:14 0A0A0A14 ->
inetboot.SUN4U.Solaris_9-1
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     other         26 Jun 27 02:16 0A0A0A14- ->
inetboot.SUN4U.Solaris_9-1
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     other         26 Jul  2 01:14 0A0A0A14.SUN4U ->
inetboot.SUN4U.Solaris_9-1
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     other         26 Jun 27 02:16 0A0A0A14.SUN4U- ->
inetboot.SUN4U.Solaris_9-1
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root other 131328 Jun 27 02:16
inetboot.SUN4U.Solaris_9-1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root other 413 Jul 2 01:14 rm.10.10.10.20
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     other          1 Jun 27 02:16 tftpboot -> .

and the only error message I could find was in /var/adm/messages:

Jul 2 01:41:21 blade-azonicnet.com automountd[237]: [ID 784820
daemon.error] server unknown not responding
Jul 2 01:41:21 blade-azonicnet.com last message repeated 3 times

I have also tried variations of the ./add_install_client script:

./add_install_client wwwserv sun4u
./add_install_client -i 10.10.10.20 -e 8:0:20:c2:78:e -s
localhost:/export/storage/Solaris9_install/ -p
localhost:/export/storage/Solaris9_install/ wwwserv sun4u
./add_install_client -i 10.10.10.20 -e 8:0:20:c2:78:e -p
localhost:/export/storage/Solaris9_install/ wwwserv sun4u

and then without the -i 10.10.10.20 -e 8:0:20:c2:78:e

oh, and i guess the last bit of info that might help is, the following
dir's are shared via NFS, according to the Solaris Installation
Instructions:

bash-2.05# share
- /export/storage/S9-sysidcfg ro,anon=0 "sysidcfg config directory"
- /export/storage/Solaris9_install ro,anon=0 ""

does anyone have any help, hints, suggestions, things that are totally
out
there to try? all the documentation that i have been able to find on
this
problem, and netra t1's talks about solaris 7 + 8, and needing to
install
some patch.. but i dont think i need to do that with s9...

if anyone would like, this is my little lab @ home, where i am doing
most
of this... the pics are anywhere from 2 years to 6 months old.. there
are
2 more sparc5's, 2 more Cisco 2500's, and the netra that have been added
since then:

Thanks a bunch!
