OK.  This is escalating out of control.  I've gotten several of the messages
(below) from various addresses this morning.

I tried calling vendor Veritas (yeh, dumb) and the 800 number was busy.

Your "friend's" internet access REALLY needs to be shut down!  He's certifiable.
