[SunHELP] Vis Instruction Set

Hi everyone,

I guess this one is kind of offtopic but anyway..its Suns Hardware and
Software ;)
Can anyone explain the differences (and of course its benefits) of the
VIS Instruction Set on UltraSparcs processors from ..lets say.. using
Xeon processors and GNU/Linux? Im talking about using this
software/hardware for developing Bioinformatics and 3D Graphics/Imaging
oriented jobs.
