Unix Gurus

We have e5000 and have 3310 (jbod) attached to it. Im using vxvm 3.1.1 and 
created three volume, all concated (no mirror/stripe) with 4 disks and leave 
one disk as hot spare. Im not sure, when a disk fails does hot spare disk 
will kick in? Please confirm
