Ben,

to be able to install the random patch you must first patch SED
with patch: 110165-04 and then install 112438-01 (random patch)

do realize that you will need to reboot teh system after installing teh
random patch....

also check if the patch was not already installed
check /var/sadm/patch for the directory 112438-01

if you had installed before but did not installed the SED patch then
there is an entry in /etc/devlink.tab that is eithe rnot created
or is wrong ...(may also in /etc/minor_perm and /etc/name_to_major)
