Any idea which files I need to change on a NIS Master Server so I can rename
it to something else?
I don't want to change the domain, just the name of the server itself. I've
changed the original name to the new name in these files:
/etc/auto_home
/etc/auto_homedir
/etc/dumpadm.conf
/etc/hostname.
/etc/hostname.eri0
/etc/nodename
/etc/hosts
/etc/net/ticlts/hosts
/etc/net/ticots/hosts
/etc/net/ticotsord/hosts
/var/yp/nis_files/auto_home
/var/yp/nis_files/ethers
/var/yp/nis_files/hosts
When I reboot I get as far as...
"starting rpc services: rpcbind keyserv ypserv ypbind done.
WARNING: Timed out waiting for NIS to come up"
At this point, the server justs sits there and does nothing.
Before I rename the server I would normally get the line (during startup):
"starting rpc services: rpcbind keyserv ypserv ypbind ypxfrd rpc.yppasswdd
rpc.yp
updated done."
I.E., after I rename and reboot I don't get "ypxfrd rpc.yppasswdd rpc.y" as
I would normally do.
BTW the sys-unconfig command doesn't really do what I want it to do as it's
highly unlikely that I'll be sat at the console when I need to rename the
server - I need to automate the whole process using a script of some
description.
Thanks,
Howard.
