[SunHELP] NIS/Server Upgrade Questions

I'd just like to pick your brains....

Our current environment consists of a Solaris 2.6 Master & Slave, about
twenty Solaris 2.6 clients and four Solaris 7 clients.

At the moment I can't upgrade the clients, but I'm looking to upgrade the
Master (and possibly the Slave) and have either Solaris 8 or 9 as the OS -
first and foremost, is the NIS environment is still part of these operating
systems?

I'll also be looking to purchase a brand new server to act as the master. I
guess a Sun Fire V120 server would be up to the job? (Depending on whether
or not I can use Solaris 8 to run NIS!) At the moment the server is also
used to send and receive email - it's running on an Ultra 5 right now.
