James,
Yes, to MBus modules. The SPARCcenter CPU boards take up to two MBus modules
each, ten boards in the chassis, 20 total in a machine.
SM81's work (1 Meg Cache)
501-3033
501-2953
501-4810
or SM82's work (2 Meg Cache)
501-3022
501-3098
501-4780
501-5056
SM61s work as well as do SM61-2s (sometimes called SM62s). They (61s) do
fine in my SS1000E. I lose the second Meg of cache with the SM61-2s
Haven't tried it, but I have no reason to doubt the 41s, 51s or 71s would
work, but I don't think the the later SPARCserver/SPARCcenters were shipped
with them. YMMV
The proms check for motherboard 'series' on startup and will not allow you to
mix a x000E clock/controller card with odler x000 motherboards or vice
versa. Tried it. :^(
I haven't seen my 1000E complian about a CPU combo. I have mixed 61s and 81s
without trouble, but it runs all the CPUs at the 61s native speed. :-(
SS1000s don't use the second Meg of cache of the SMx2s per the book...only
the SC2000s 8P.
