[SunHELP] Query regarding tape drive

Hi,
We have a E450 box here (solaris 8).The tape drive is a sun Storedge DDS4
Tape drive.
Generally we use 4 gb (or 8gb compressed) i.e DDS2 tapes ( i am not a full
time sys admin so please forgive me for any specification errors).

I cannot use any tapes with capacity 2 Gb (compressed 4gb).
Every time i try to do access the tape i get an error

$ tar cvf /dev/rmt/0 testlog
tar : /dev/rmt/0 : Permission Denied

But the command works fine for DDS2 and DDS3 tapes.What could be the
problem?
