[SunHELP] mysterious syslogd printer messages

One of my 2.7 machines displays the following syslog output on a regular
basis. This has been happening for months - since the machine was first
setup. Naturally the dates change....

I am not running lpd. What is the source of these messages? What is the
meaning of the doted string where the machine name normally appears?

If these messages originate from a remote machine, how do I prevent syslogd
from logging them. I see no way to control network access via syslog.conf.

If a local script is attempting to send print jobs to the (non-existent)
local printer, would that cause these messages to appear?

thanks!
Mike
