Bad cable or a cross over cable instead of a straight through cable; try
another cable.

Bad RJ to DB adapter; try the other one that comes with the V100 using
a DB9-DB25 adapter.

The V100 is DOA; call Sun for repair or replacement.

FWIW, I've had no problems with these boxes.
