Hi everyone.
We have brough a Dell server with Scsi drive.
And we realised that the HD in the Dell is similar
to those in our old Sun SPARC server.
Which were useless because of dead disks.
So I write to seagate which manifactured the drives
( The new one in the Dell and the old one in the sun )
Sun's Old drive were: ST31200WC
Dell new drive is: ST318305LC
Seagate wrote me back and told me that their should
be no hardware problem in putting the ST318305LC drive
in the old sun.
So I put the drive in the Sun.
All seems to work ok, but I receive the "Bad magic number in disk
label" when it starts.
I searched a bit and rapidely found that this probably means that the
drive is not formated for sun. And that I only need to format it.
So I put the drive in with the solaris CD in the drive
and boot it up.
Then I thinked of something..
I made STOP+A and go to the ok prompt
ok probe-scsi-all
/iommu at 0,10000000/sbus at 0,10001000/espdma at 5,8400000/esp at 5,8800000
SCSI unexpected phase = 0
If I do the same thing without the drive i see this.
ok probe-scsi-all
/iommu at 0,10000000/sbus at 0,10001000/espdma at 5,8400000/esp at 5,8800000
Target 6
Unit 0 Removable Read Only device TOSHIBA XM-4101TASUNSLCD108404/18/94
So.. can someone tell me what is the problem, and if possible
what can I do to solve this issue?
Thanx to everone.
