[SunHELP] odd system problems (ethernet not working and 'bus fault')

i'm thinking of naming my first born Nils (that's your name right?) now.  your
solution seems to have worked... partially.  the port seems to be active now. 
it's not fussy when i disconnect the cable and reconnect it.

however, there are two things.  the first is I still get an error when I do the
'test net' the transceiver test fails with a "-1" error.  the other problem is
the port is a 10/100 capable port, but with the setting you gave, for some
reason that is beyond me, the port is negotiated at 10mbps not 100mpbs.

i always thought it did the auto negotiation thing.  this is the output from
dmesg in regards to the port (when it wasn't at all working) and you'll note it
mentioned a successful auto negotiation.
