Did you check that the LaserJet is ready for connections ?
To test it, just try to connect to the TCP port 515 from the E250 to the
printer. You should get something like this :
# telnet HP_LaserJet printer
Trying 192.168.200.16...
Connected to lex.
Escape character is '^]'.
^]
telnet> close
Connection closed.
Well, if connection is OK, maybe your filter if wrong.
As you use an HP LaserJet, I would recommend you to install the HP JetAdmin
package, which offers configuration facilities, plus a set of powerful
filters.

Objet: [SunHELP] network printer
Hi All,
I've just installed network printer but I've got no response while
doing
printing.
My server is E-250 Sol 8, and printer is HP LaserJet 4Si.
Here are content of /etc/hosts
# Internet host table
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.200.211 ttrs18 loghost
192.168.200.16 HP_LaserJet
I do some commands on this :
# lpadmin -p hp_test -v /dev/null
# lpadmin -p hp_test -m netstandard
# lp admin -p hp_test -v /dev/null -T PS -A write -i
/usr/lib/lp/model/netstandard -o \
dest:HP_LaserJet -o protocol=tcp -o nobanner -I postscript -u
allow:all
# cd /etc/lp/fd
# for filter in *.fd;do
> name=_basename $filter .fd_
> lpfilter -f $name -F $filter
> done
# accept hp_test
destination "hp_test" now accepting requests
# enable hp_test
printer "hp_test" now enabled
# lpadmin -p hp_test -D "testing network printer"
# lpadmin -d hp_test
# lpstat -p hp_test
printer hp_test is idle. enabled since Fri Feb 1 14:26:49 GMT
2002.
available.
Everything is seems OK. But when I run
# lp /etc/hosts
# lpstat -o all
HP_LaserJet-17 root 105 Feb 01 15:44
filtered
Nothing doing on my printer.
Any ideas will be appreciated !
thanks and rgrds,
triyono
