I have never really liked solaris before ....BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I turned on logging the other day and sure enough the local power company
basically pulled the
power at 12:00 when we are out for lunch.......(yes we have a ups but it
only lasts 1 hour).

Well when we got back we noticed that some daemons were not running, so we
checked out
syslog sure enough a reboot happened.

600GB raid array fscked itself and came up in 3 minutes or so.......no data
loss......

Thats a really neato feature.....how come SUN does not have logging turned
on by default.

IS THERE A DOWN SIDE TO LOGGING??

PS: THANK YOU SUNHELP.ORG, if I had not have read the FAQs...etc...I would
not not known about logging and perhapswould have had a rather long weekend.
