Yeah,

if you've just got a bunch of tapes written to with a DLT7000 you should have
no problems reading the contents back off them with a DLT8000 drive.

A DLT8000 drive should be able to read/write to DTL IV tapes at 35/75 GB and
lower as well as its more usual 40/80 GB. If the tapes are only DLT III the
best you'll get is 10/20, or 15/30 if the tapes are DLT IIIXT.
